Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LLC will host a grand opening for its new South Austin location March 22. The new eight-screen venue, at the corner of MoPac Expressway and Slaughter Lane, also includes the Austin-based theater chain’s first stand-alone cocktail lounge with a focus on tequila, mescal and agave spirits called The 400 Rabbits. The name of the bar comes from the Aztec goddess Mayahuel, the divine personification of the agave plant, officials said. Bill Norris, beverage director for Alamo Drafthouse, took a sabbatical to Jalisco, Mexico last year to learn the production methods and history of tequila, bringing his newfound knowledge back to Austin...
